In 2023, I took a sabbatical to help my parents on their sheep farm in the Orkney Islands in Scotland. They've lived on the island of Auskerry since the 1970s, looking after a flock of an ancient rare breed of sheep that eat seaweed. The island is three quarters of a mile long and my parents have been the only permanent residents there for nearly 50 years. It's an immensely special place.

My dad now lives with dementia, leaving my mum to run the farm and wool business on her own. You can see all the beautiful products they make at isleofauskerry.com.

Ever since I left home, I've always gone back to the farm to help for a month every summer. Last year, I spent four months there, helping with dad's care and filming a series of short films about my parents' life as well as carrying out the annual sheep jobs. Check out my YouTube channel to see the films I made.
